A Colourful Labour Gay Weekend in Quebec City
To celebrate its 10 years, the Quebec City Pride Festival will offer up lots of new features which will be revealed towards the middle of June. Several features are to come along with a public outdoor exhibition, an international speaker and the return of a symbolic activity. The "Arc-en-ciel" celebration for 2014 will take place from Thursday, August 28 to Sunday, the 31 during Labour Day Weekend. It will be the 10th edition of the Quebec City Pride Festival since its rebirth in 2005
For its events, the festivities for the 2014 Quebec City Pride Festival will take place in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste neighbourhood, located in the middle of over 400 years of history! There will be musical performances and drag queens on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at at the Place d'Youville. The Rue Saint-Jean will be pedestrian only with activities and decorations during the community fair on Saturday and Sunday. More than 30 groups and organizations will have booths to promote their services to festival attendees. Community days will also offer the opportunity to discover the charming shops and their sidewalk sales on Rue Saint-Jean. We are also proud to announce the return of the flag raising, the opening cocktail, and the Singing Competition. Sign ups will be available by the end of the month of June. This year, the family picnic will be presented in a new way.
Celebrating pride also means having a party! Le Drague Cabaret Club and Saint-Matthew's Bar, the two main "Vieille-Capitale" gay bars will hold festive soirées. The street in front of the Drague will become a giant terrace and several late night shows will be presented in the cabaret. For Saint-Matthew's, bears and males will be in the spotlight at a bear soirée and a Boys Gone Wild party. In addition, the Quebec City Pride Festival is proud to announce the organization for the first time of a dance floor 100% in French in collaboration with Décibels Franco.
